I AM . . .
Author, priest, professor, investigative reporter.
Husband. Father. Child of God.
Behind the scenes . . .
I am a former investigative newspaper reporter in Austin, Texas, and Memphis, Tennessee. I uncovered a corrupt sheriff's department near Houston in 1982, where deputies were water-torturing prisoners in the jail while operating a major drug ring. The investigation resulted in my book TERROR ON HIGHWAY 59 (Texas Monthly Press, 1984) and a made-for-television movie -- TERROR ON HIGHWAY 91 (CBS Tuesday night movie, January 3, 1989).
I am a Roman Catholic priest, ordained to the priesthood by His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo on June 25, 2013, for the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I am serving as Director of Communication for the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, based in Houston, and as an assisting priest at several parishes in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I will teach religion at an inner-city Catholic school and at the University of Phoenix campuses in Houston.
I served 25 years as a priest in the Episcopal Church, in Texas and North Dakota.
My academic background is:
BA in History, Texas Wesleyan College
MA in History, North Texas State University
MDiv, Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest
DMin, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary
PhD, Newburgh Theological Seminary
